Cold water from the tankHot water, about 89 °CA pod brewer makes one cup in one quick pass. A small pump draws cold water from the tank and pushes it through a flow-through heater, a copper tube that warms the water to about 89 degrees as it goes by, so there is no boiler to wait for. Closing the lid drives a hollow needle through the foil top of the pod, and a second needle pierces the bottom of the cup. Hot water enters at the top at a gentle 1 bar, soaks 10 g of ground coffee in a paper filter, and runs out of the bottom needle straight into the mug: 240 ml in about 50 seconds, played 5 times faster than life.
